Music that last...
After the political change in 1989, the big state owned record companies (Supraphon, Panton, OPUS) lost their monopolistic position and new record labels emerged, together with new commercial trends. In general, the releasing of non-lucrative projects (even if of high quality) almost vanished.
GNOSIS BRNO (founded in 1993) is one of few labels that started to build up the catalogue of high-quality acoustic Czech and Moravian music of any style without thinking primarily about commercial impact. Rather than lucrativeness, the quality and long-lasting value is here important. The label started with the new acoustic music projects and later on (in 1995) opened the systematic representative Moravian traditional folk music edition.
